Fiction for Reluctant Readers

If you're looking for books that will grab young readers' attention and keep them reading, look no further than Deer Lake, Bayview High, and Nate's Journal. While the novels in these three series will interest children of all reading levels, they will especially appeal to students who struggle with reading proficiency. Simple sentence structure and lower-level vocabulary encourage reluctant readers to read, boosting their confidence while improving their comprehension skills.

The Deer Lake series is geared toward students in grades four and five and has a grade-three reading level. These delightful books about friendship and adventure will engage young readers while developing stronger reading skills.

Each novel in the Bayview High series addresses the challenges and pressures faced by young adults. Easy-to-read text helps make important issues accessible to students in grades seven and up who are reading at a level of grade five.

Nate's Journal is a series that gives readers a glimpse into the life and times of eighth grader, Nate Brown, through his own personal journal. These humourous books about Nate's relationships at home and school are for students in grades four to six, with a reading level of grade three.

Regular Fiction

Angel Wilson: teenage diva, Hawk Medicine, The Mystery of the Medieval Coin and To Save a King are books for strong readers. Though not intended for reluctant readers, these challenging new books provide the same exciting, thought-provoking stories you have come to expect from Tea Leaf Press.
